The only way HFT firms can retain their leading positions in the financial market is by adopting the emerging technological innovations. Failure to do so will lead to an imminent loss.
Most firms will have a "hotfix" mentality, so you will be training on-the-job. This is extremely dependent on the firm, but in my experience, drinking in the office is generally discouraged. However, there are some who are very relaxed and actually encourage it for comradery. Your list of firms and locations is great.
