Jim, given that you ride 2 up a lot and in mountains, I would think that you would want a cam that hits low in the RPM band to be the most useful. Something like a Woods Prowler .222 or even the Harley .255. Gained at least 10 mph top speed and sounds awesome. I should have installed new lifters (40,000 miles on bike) just to be sure especially when you get it all apart. I also installed an Energy clutch which much tighter than the stock kit. The SE251 cams do make noise. I wouldn't count on the Woods and different. Chris. Running the Tw6-g's in my 98in build. The difference in noise levels between my fathers valve train on his stock 96 and mine is negligeable at best. Have heard lots of people complain about noisey cams, guess I got lucky.

Cam thoughts for 2014 Ultra Classic. Does anyone have any thoughts on the Woods tw-222 cams. I am considering them to wake up my 103 a little. I guess my concern is the .555 lift and potential valve train damage. I don't want to get too involved with an expensive build, just a little more low end torque.

In my opinion and others, the 555 and the 777 underperform in the 103 configuration. I had Woods TW777, which worked well, but that being said, this configuration will be more stock as far as the engine is concerned. Meaning the pistons, heads, and whatnot will be stock. I ride over 20K a year.Road dawg. I swear by Feulings cam, I run a 525 Reaper in my 2011 96 inch motor but for a 103 the 543 Reaper is a solid performer, but if you want under 4k many people I know have gotten excellent low end with the 525 in a 103, my go to cam, good luck on your choice. Installed woods 555 cams woods roller lifters and had short block charlies increse valve seat size and street port heads adjustable push rods. pulling 102 h.p and 110 torque very happy with the hole set up. Set up for 10.25 to 1 compression.
