But, I noticed that the door seems to open when my finger tips are warmer vs cooler. I guess I could use touch sensitive. However, the device has to be able to detect the touch. I suspect some inanimate objects may not work. If the object is at the same or less temperature than the device, it may not recognize the touch. But, that is just a guess.You may have an issue now if it is obvious you tried to fix it yourself but it is worth a try with the dealer but that torn ribbon cable is probably going to be an issue. Welcome to CF! This is a common issue with screens prior to 2018. The screen needs to be replaced. It's not too much $$. Can be found at cuescreens.com. Or if you have warranty the Dealer would replace the whole CUE unit but it would most likely fail again.

As you already know, touch screen replacement is relatively simple and straightforward, using simple tools and patience. It's also a lot cheaper than being financially abused by GM to pay for a replacement ICS @ > $1500 over a much cheaper failed component. I paid $60 for a replacement touch screen.
