TL;DR version: Archon shards would feel more exciting if they were weaker (for example, 5% ability strength each) but you got more of them, more often. Plus being able to then combine the smaller ones into big ones, with a few tiers (Tauforged being the highest tier) means it would still be a cool long term goal.
