Has happened 5 times since I've been selling and it always falls under shipping protection. i received such a package from a Mercari seller and I put in my submission when it arrived broken that it WAS packaged properly.

If this was the case, Mercari should let them keep the item, they should get a refund, AND funds should be released to the seller. There's no reason for Mercari to pay to ship a damaged item back to the seller for the seller to claim the same damage during transit and then have the value of the item released to them.

Honestly, I've had a few buyers that had issues unrelated to their purchases from me ask me how to get ahold of Mercari, because they can't even find a proper way to get in touch with customer service. Ironically, I can't even send Mercari's own domain email address to them without it getting removed, so I can't really help them, at all.
