Keep the object pressed into the hole while moving the shifter away from park. Take note that returning the shifter to park after doing those steps will return it to its stuck state.
Also, there is a little small piece of plastic right beside the gear shift lever. it is about even with the neutral gear position on the right I believe. You can pry that piece of plastic out. Jun 4, 2013 · I would not have taken off the shift knob like you did to drive. I'd leave it on, use the key to slide the shift level to N and take the key to start the car. After that, you can move the shift to D. It makes sense though to replace the bad part of the shift knob as it is safer to start the car in P rather and N.
