I am leaving TransAct for Tradovate and after a week of watching their platform perform in real time I can say I am excited about the move. DOM kept up on both the web app and the desktop version even in the highest volatility.

Great support from Tim White. The account opening process was a bit bumpy (I understand the compliance requirements) but overall experience was great. Great integration with Tradingview. Tradovate desktop app is very good. I even stopped using tradingview. Date of experience: October 28, 2022 I use tradestation on my windows (on my mac) which works pretty well for my needs. It's good right out of the box, lots of different commodities and currency futures for reasonable margin. $3-4k will be enough for a couple micro/ commodity contacts. I wouldn't recommend ninjatrader. Really outdated and the whole "lifetime license" is nonsense.

So I feel Tradovate is the best option for most people, although it may be worth opening a TradeStation futures account for the charting, if nothing else for backtesting. There used to be a $2K minimum balance for their TS Select Plan but as far as I can tell they removed the minimum balance.Tradovate here, very good for order execution, but I don’t like their charts. And ffs I wish they’d make the cursor crosshairs disappear when the cursor leaves the chart. As I said I don't use Tradovate, but basic data in CQG data in Ninjatrader is $12 a month, and it provides the main CME instruments, among many others. Either way, you are paying for market data. I suppose similar to the way that Samsung or Apple make phones, but the don't work without a carrier connection, which have separate contracts and fees.

If you want to go deep down the rabbit hole, you can do anything on Sierra Chart and it is way cheaper than Ninja Trader. Tradovate and TS have pros and cons. TradeStation software is much more powerful. Their desktop app only runs on Windows though. Their mobile app is good although wouldn't really ever want to be trading on a phone. Commission is higher and futures margins are significantly higher.
