The M4 is more of an iconic battle proven shotgun but really only has a self defense role in my eyes. The 1301 comp pro can do everything, sporting clays, general range fun and is light and nimble enough to play a self defense role if need be. The 1301 is light as all get out but recoil is light. Like there is no way a shotgun that light should recoil this light. It was pretty reliable as well.
