It's due to the fact that they are treated as any streaming device, and using them on an X1 box counts toward any data cap. If you want to use streaming apps, you will need to use something else. Only recording 2 shows at a time on my X1 box solved. This happened to me at the end of my last yearly plan. I removed my phone service and they set me up with a little different plan to save me some money. When the new plan started my recorder would only record 2 shows at a time instead of the 5-6 shows that I previously had.
