Without the serial number letter prefix, that is hard to say. The Model 336 got the Micro-Groove barrel in 1956, and the cross-bolt safety started in 1984, so, your gun was made sometime in between those dates. Need that serial number letter prefix to determine exact year. The butt stock appears to be non-original.I have seen the 336 with and without the checkering. Were the earlier 336's plain and the later ones checkered and when? I noticed that the cross bolt safety appeared in 1983 and the two tapped holes for the receiver sight disappeared in 2001. As I am writing this, I am holding the bolt from my 1968 336 RC in my hand and looking at the schematic. My observation is that it is a simple replacement especially if you have already disassembled the bolt. The 414 SM 336 Marlin did a good job being well capable of launching a 265 grain GC WW slug at 1900 FPS. So next my overactive thinker was wondering about 300 - 350 grains of lead. Jan 19, 2010 · The "AC" serial number is 1967. All 336T's will have a straight grip stock. At one time, Numrich did have some 336, .44 Magnum barrels. The item number was 45400 and was listed at $56.60 plus shipping. You would need to call them to see if they have any left, but they may be out by now.
