My guess would be the best with AC would be the Ranger, with Beastmaster archetype. The companion gets the bonus of the hunter edge, Beastmaster gives access to the feats earlier than ranger (same time as Druid) and you have at least 2 companions for different situation (for exemple a mount and another one for indoor situations).
