Most collectors of antique survey instruments knew Dale. He bought and sold some of the rarest instruments around. He had an impressive collection that he sold to Russ Uzes.If work was steady in the recent past, and then all of a sudden it dropped off a cliff, I would first suspect reasons other than price. Since this past year being truly full time and involved with crews and LS it’s a totally different beast. The LS has very little involvement in the day to day. It’s here is this job and get it done. Wherever you are in the world if you are surveying on a natural gas pipeline I expect you will do a lot of walking or waiting or both. In the US, pipeline surveyors seem to have a bad reputation, but the ones I worked with were some of the most well rounded and skilled men I have worked with.
