I have seen no definitive descrpiption of either one other than -7 was two piece barrel and -8 was slab side barrel. Both don't hold true when looking at examples online that appear to be same as a -6. Maybe someone with more knowledge of the 629 will chime in. Changes to the 52-2 included an improved extractor.
