About how much does the median heme/onc salary increase every year? Like the only MGMA data I have is from 2021 and it was 481K. Anyone know what it was for 2020 or 2019? … or 2022 for that matter? Hi all, As the title suggests, I'm curious about the quality of life of a community Heme/Onc physician. I'm currently deciding between a hybrid community vs academic job. When I discuss the community job with attendings, they act like 4d/week in community is the end of the world and unsustainable.Current USA *medical* heme/onc (HO) fellow here. I'll make a note that you can take care of a lot of oncology patients (not heme) via other specialties: radiation oncology, surgical oncology, dermatology, the various surgical subspecialties, etc. so worth thinking about. Getting on a paper as 4th-5th-6th-7th author is not going to help much either. I have seen many specialties over my 45 years as a physician go from hot to cold to hot, etc. in ten years and hemeonc has been one. A typical work week would be covering the inpatient service (12-15 patients), taking new consults, two half day clinics per week, one weekly HD shift per week, and one monthly PD shift. Daily conferences and presentations every ~2 weeks. Weekend call was 1/3 to 1/4 and we were overnight call one night per week.Cards, GI, and Pulm/CC are probably the most competitive of the IM fellowships. You make good money, but have to really work for it. Heme/Onc is competitive, as well.
