With every attack there seems to be 90% of enemies that go through my "maze"/kill box entrance as expected but about 10% of them attack randoms fortifications, often at opposite corners of my base. This is my first game and my base is a simple square of wood fortifications with a closed gate in the middles of each wall (except South gate …I've intentionally delayed putting up defense towers, automated guns, etc and mobs have remained relatively small and pests not as powerful. You can force them into battle the same way as your survivors though. Draft them, then give them orders, the same as survivors. What I like to do is shift-click to give them a movement order. That tells them to move there but also attack any enemies they cross paths with along the way. #2.
